Diamond Cuts

Diamond cuts can mean two things. Diamond cuts refer to the shape of the diamond – which can be round, marquise, pear, oval, heart, emerald, princess, radiant, etc. and also refers to the proportions of the stone.

The cut gives each diamond its unique sparkle and brilliance by allowing the maximum amount of light to enter and reflect out of the diamond.

When a stone is cut to good proportions, light is reflected from facet to facet, and then dispersed through the top. The better the diamond cut, the greater the sparkle, brilliance and fire of the stone will be.

FlyerFit® uses only Hearts and Arrows make for the round diamonds that are in their engagement rings.

Diamond Clarity

Diamond clarity is a measure of the purity and clearness of the diamond. Almost all diamonds contain a combination of internal and external characteristics called inclusions and blemishes. Diamonds are graded according to the number of inclusions or internal flaws they possess.

The highest clarity grade for a stone with no flaws is F and the lowest is I3 for stones with very obvious inclusions. Normally, they are too minute to be visible without powerful magnification. Some are even so small they require great skill and time to locate. The number, type, location, visibility and color of inclusions determine a diamond’s clarity and may influence its value.

FlyerFit® uses two qualities: VS2-SI1, which we call our B quality, and SI1-SI2, which we call our C quality.
